The train service from London to Liverpool runs a few times an hour from Euston Station between the early morning and evening. While direct connections are possible on this 2 to 3 hour journey, passengers may also have to make one change at either Crewe or Chester. Trains terminate in either Liverpool Lime Street Station or James Street Station, both of which provide connections throughout the city. On weekdays there are two peak fare periods during main commuter times in the morning and the afternoon into evening. While trains run with a similar regularity on weekends, on Sunday service can be considerably slower, with fewer trains departing each hour throughout the day. Service on this route is provided by Virgin Trains, and train tickets must be purchased before boarding.

Trains from London to Liverpool depart from Euston Station, located in the centre of the capital. London Euston station is located on both branches of the Northern Line of the London Underground as well as the London Overground. The station is also serviced by a good number of buses and night buses. As with the rest of London, Underground and Overground trains do not run overnight, however night buses and taxis can provide connections outside of the Tube hours. For further rail connections, other nearby stations include St Pancras International and King’s Cross Station. Virgin Trains provide the service from London to Liverpool, and a large number of trains leave from here each day. As the capital of the UK, London offers plentiful history and culture, as well as a large number of transport connections to further abroad.

Liverpool, located in Merseyside on the northwest coast of England, is well known for its rich architectural heritage and fascinating cultural sites. Trains arriving into Liverpool will do so at Liverpool Lime Street Station or James Street Station. Liverpool Lime Street is the main station in the city and offers the most arrivals for trains coming from London during the day. The largest and oldest station in Liverpool, Lime Street Station is very centrally located and is within walking distance to Liverpool Central Station, St Johns Shopping Centre, St. John’s Gardens, and the World Museum. Public transport that connects to Lime Street includes an Underground stop, local buses and taxis. Once in Liverpool the TransPennine Express can easily be accessed to other major Northern cities and Scotland. Trains from London to Liverpool James Street are also possible, and this station can be found just steps from the Liverpool Waterfront. Liverpool also offers connections further abroad via Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
