Travelling from London to Brighton

Located less than 100 kilometres apart, the journey from London to the coastal town of Brighton is generally very convenient by either bus or train. The train is usually the quickest option, with direct journeys from either London Bridge or London Victoria train stations taking approximately an hour to reach Brighton railway station. Travel by bus will take approximately 2-3 hours from London Victoria Coach Station to Brighton Coach Station (Pool Valley).

Travelling from London to Brighton

Trains

The London Brighton journey by train can take as little as an hour on select routes. Direct services to Brighton train station are available from London Victoria, London St Pancras and London Bridge train stations, with the former offering mostly direct connections. Other services may require a change at either Clapham Junction, East Croydon or Gatwick Airport. Services are provided by Southern and Thameslink. Departures are available at least once an hour - except in the early hours - and run as frequently as 9 times an hour during peak times.

Buses

Bus journeys between London and Brighton depart from Victoria Coach Station and terminate at Pool Valley Coach Station near Brighton Pier. These are provided by National Express and depart 24 hours a day. There are usually two services departing each hour, until the early evening when the schedule is reduced to once an hour. Most routes are direct though services departing between midnight and 8:00 a.m. tend to require a change at Gatwick Airport. The fastest London Brighton service takes just under 2 hours while less popular times can take up to 3 hours to reach Brighton.
