How to Get to Newcastle upon Tyne

Flights to Newcastle upon Tyne

Newcastle International Airport (NCL), situated some 10 kilometres from the city centre, receives regular flights from Europe, the Americas and the Middle East, and from many domestic locations. The fastest way into the city is on the Tyne and Wear Metro system which runs to the downtown Monument Station in around 20 minutes. A slower option is to take a bus operated by Stagecoach.

East Coast runs services from major cities such as London and Edinburgh, Cross Country Trains connects with Birmingham, and Transpennine Express travels from Leeds and Manchester. Trains arrive at Newcastle Central Station. Located in the southern part of Grainger Town, it’s also a stop on the Tyne and Wear Metro which offers fast and convenient onward transport.

National Express operated 5 daily direct services from London Victoria with the journey taking between 6:30 hours and 7 hours and 55 minutes. Coaches arrive at Newcastle Upon Tyne Coach Station centrally located at the southern end of St James' Boulevard and a short walk from Newcastle Train Station. Megabus runs 4 daily departures from Victoria arriving at John Dobson Street adjacent to Newcastle City Library, across from the Laing Art Gallery.
