Madrid ​​Estación Sur de Autobuses: This is Madrid’s main bus station, also known as Méndez Álvaro, and serves as the central hub for major bus routes out of Madrid. Facilities include cafés, shops, toilets, luggage storage plus access to taxi ranks, city buses and local trains which also run out of this station. The central train station in Madrid, Atocha, is located a short walk away.

Malaga Central Bus station: The station is centrally located next to Malaga Railway station, which has direct connections to Malaga airport. Facilities include 24-hour taxi ranks, café, bar, plus newspaper and souvenir vendors.

Segovia Coach Terminal: Segovia Coach Terminal is a short 7 minute walk from the city centre and easily located the train station. The bus terminal has a parking lot and coffee bar, with the possibility to buy food from nearby kiosks a short distance from the station.

Salamanca Coach Terminal: Centrally located in Salamanca, the bus terminal is around 1 mile from the main city centre. There are public, city coaches and a taxi stand at the bus terminal. Facilities include toilets, food kiosks, an ATM and a coffee shop.

Avanza operates regular bus services to over 300 destinations in Spain and Portugal in the Iberian peninsula. Most Avanza speed buses depart from the capital of Madrid and travel to popular destinations in the east and west of the country on a daily basis, such as Segovia and Barcelona. The most popular routes have more frequent services, but most services run every day of the week. Avanza bus Spain also operates along the southwest coast of Spain along the Costa del Sol, including Express Services, which makes fewer stops. Cheap Avanza tickets: promotions and deals

Avanza offers discounts and deals which can be applied to tickets when buying through Omio. Cheaper tickets are available for certain groups so it’s worth checking out what sort of discount you can apply:

  • Large families (more than three members) can get a discount of between 20% to 50% off ticket prices
  • Children under the age of four years old travel for free on urban buses and the Consorcio de Transportes network. For all other services, they will have to pay 50% of the ticket price.
  • Be over 60 years old or retired.
  • If you travel in a group it is also possible to get a discount of up to 30%.

Types of Avanza buses

Avanza has a range of fleets with different facilities across their bus services, depending on your travel route. When booking your Avanza bus tickets, look out for the following options:

  • Normal: reclining seats with individual air-conditioning and lighting, adapted for passengers with reduced mobility and with safety belts.
  • Express: in addition to the ‘Normal’ seat offering, they have amenities such as free Wi-Fi, WC, low-emission engines, more space between seats, a DVD-video system and plugs.
  • Multimedia: the multimedia fleet is the most modern in Avanza. In addition to the comforts of other types of buses, they offer USB ports, air-conditioning and space to travel with your pet.
  • Multimedia Plus: like Multimedia but with more services, such as more space between seats, extra tinted windows, a baby changing table in the WC and real-time monitoring of the route.
  • Multimedia VIP: onboard assistant, luggage control system and catering service on board. Only available for lucky passengers travelling between Madrid and Segovia.

Avanza: Services on board

Passengers travelling on Avanza bus services can book Standard Class tickets for bus trips across Spain.

  • Express services on selected routes feature seats upholstered in leather and offer seat-controlled air conditioning, newspapers and free Wi-Fi for additional passenger comfort.
  • Passengers are allowed to bring two items of luggage in the hold that do not exceed 30 kg in total and one small backpack or bag on board.
  • If you have restricted mobility and need assistance boarding, contact Avanza 48 hours before you travel. Avanza has a fleet of 75 buses with access ramps and lifting platforms for wheelchairs.
  • Passengers will need to pay an additional fee if you are travelling with a bicycle. You will need to remove the front tyre before your bike is placed in the hold.
  • Pets must be placed in a pet carrier and will travel in the hold of the bus.
  • Passengers are not permitted to eat on Avanza buses. Some services will stop at rest areas along the way where you can have a light snack.

What happens if I have to change or cancel my bus ticket?

If you cancel your bus ticket 48 hours in advance, you will be charged 20% of the ticket price. If you wait until 24 hours before, the rate will go up to 30% and until two hours before, no changes or cancellations are allowed. Contact our customer service if you want to change your ticket or use our cancellation form.

Can children travel for free on Avanza buses?

If a child is under four years old, they can travel for free on some routes and with a 50 per cent discount on others.

Do I have to print my Avanza bus tickets?

When booking with Omio, you can have your ticket sent straight to your phone. Just download the mobile app to have all your tickets and bookings saved in one place. And for those that would prefer to print, you can still do and simply present the printed ticket to your bus driver.

How much luggage can I take on an Avanza bus?

You can take two suitcases that weigh no more than 30 kgs altogether.

Can I take my bike or other bulky items on an Avanza bus?

You can take your instruments in the hold. As for sports equipment, it will depend on the space available in the hold. If you want to travel with your bike, you will have to pay €10 and take the front wheel off.

Can I travel with my pet?

Pets are welcome aboard Avanza buses. You can travel with your pet for free as long as they travel in their corresponding carrier and you've filled out a form given to you at the station. Guide dogs are allowed to travel at all times..

Can I travel on Avanza buses with reduced mobility?

Avanza has 75 vehicles adapted with ramps for passengers with reduced mobility. Contact the company 48 to 24 hours before traveling to make sure you are on one of the adapted buses.
